Haircon is the biggest scientific meeting of the Hair transplant surgeons of India. This year this is Organized by the hon.secretory of the association Dr. Anil k Garg in Indore on 8th,9th and 10th Feb 2019. More than 200 delegates participated in the conference from all over India. International faculties ( Dr. Robert True, Dr. Marcio Crisostomo, Dr. Trevellini and Dr. Sanusi Umar along with Dr. A. Shahmalak was there to Present various techniques of Hair Transplant.)
The conference was preceded by the live surgical workshop on the Body Hair transplant at the Rejuvenate Hair Transplant Centre, Indore on the 8 Feb morning 7 am to 1 pm. Various national and International faculties participated in the conference and workshop. Theme of the Workshop was ‘Beyond Scalp’ so Body hair transplant was in the main focus. Variety of cases was there so as all delegates Novice to advanced level get benefits from the workshop. Dr. Anil Garg was very much concerned about all the delegates participated in the workshop and along with his scientific committee he was preparing for it since long to give valuable education to all.
Dr. Robert true from US along with Dr. Anil Garg demonstrated Beard hair harvesting. They explain various points to be taken care of during beard grafts excision. Dr. Seema Garg was assisting to both of them.
Dr. Marcio Crisestomo from Brazil and Dr. Trivellini from UK, demonstrate the Combination approach for the FUT and FUE from the scalp to cover higher grade of baldness.
Dr. Sanusi Umar had done chest hair harvesting. One more patient was operated for cleft lip scar; hair grafts are harvested from the beard and implanted in the cleft lip scar.
The inaugural function of the conference was in the hotel Marriot in Indore. Dr. K Ramchandran along with all delegates of the conference read the pledge for the ethical practice in the field of hair restoration in India. National faculties Dr. Rachita along with all other BOGs of the AHRS India give their valuable suggestion to all the delegates to improve their results of hair transplant.
Scientific Program was mainly focused on the – Hair Restoration beyond Scalp. All the possible donor areas apart from the scalp (beard, chest, extremities) were kept in mind.
Day -1 starts with the basics of hair transplant, Indication, and contraindication of hair transplant, How to create natural hairline for both men and women. There are a lot of controversies regarding the use of Finesteride in patients with MPHL, A panel discussion was conducted in which all national faculties participated and give their valuable opinion regarding the same.
Day -2 was focused on all the techniques of Hair transplant- FUT, FUE, BHT, Eyelash and eyebrow hair transplant, Beard and mustache reconstruction. All the delegates very much like the scientific feast delivered to them by the national and international faculties.
Dr. Anil Garg delivered the lecture on “combining scalp with non-scalp donor harvest in the same session to increase visual density and coverage in advanced hair loss”. Very well appreciated by all the delegates.
Dr. Garg also gave a lecture on “Implantation- Why it is a crucial step in Hair Transplantation (recipient area management in hair transplant)”. These topics are of so much importance to the newcomers and they learn a lot from these.
Day-3 was focused on Advanced biology- PRP, LLLT etc., All other pathological conditions are also covered in the different sessions. In the last, a quiz was conducted for PG students from different part of the country.
With the rapid advances in the field of hair restoration, India has emerged one of the most liked destinations for hair transplant. Patients come here for Hair transplant from all over the world. The responsibility of the association of hair restoration surgeons India is increased many folds to educate their members, so they can provide ethical services to them. Haircon 2019 was aimed to do this and got success as was expected under the leadership of Dr.K.Ramchandran and Dr. Anil k Garg.
